The 1st settlers in this area that was once heavily forested were Saucier’s. Baptiste Saucier cleared land and built a cabin northwest of the present community about 1850.
Sometime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF82HVDr0AU during the 1870’s a younger brother of Baptiste, Bernard Saucier built a one room building that was used for a school as well as church and town meetings. The property was renamed the Saucier United Methodist Church and continues to serve the town to this day.

With the establishment of the railroad in the last quarter of the 19th century, Saucier became the center of the Southern Mississippi yellow pine. During this prosperous time frame, 40 percent of all lumber produced in Mississippi traveled through the community of Saucier.
